DON MASSON, beloved husband of Helen Masson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in Lethbridge at the age of 80 years, one week after their 39th Wedding Anniversary.
Don was born on August 24, 1928 in the Van Haarlem Hospital to George and Lily Masson. He spent a happy childhood within the community of family and friends. He was one of thirty some cousins and never lacked for a playmate.
Don finished school at LCI and went to work for Canadian Western Natural Gas Company for 23 years. During this time he also served in the Military. When he resigned from the Gas Company he tried some other jobs for 2 years. He applied for a job with the City of Lethbridge where he held various positions. He loved his work and always gave it his best. After 17 years with the city he took early retirement.
Besides his loving wife Helen, Don is survived by his 4 daughters from a previous marriage, Linda (Jim) McCann, Judee (Brian) Baines, Diane (Mitch) Bodnaruk all of Lethbridge and Kim Lettinga of Montana; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Don was predeceased by his parents, brother-in-law Jim Schibler and niece Suzanne Schibler.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the COALDALE MENNONITE BRETHREN CHURCH, 2114 – 18 Street South, with Pastor Randy Dueck and Pastor Rudy Heidebrecht officiating. |
